Symbiotic presents the work of photo-based artists from across Canada who engage with technology, both old and new. A collaboration between SPAO: Photographic Arts Centre and the Canada Agriculture and Food Museum, the exhibition is spread across two sites: the SPAO Centre Gallery and outdoors at the museum.
The artists on view at the SPAO Centre Gallery — located at 77 Pamilla Street in Ottawa — use emerging technologies and photographic techniques to reinterpret the world around them. At the museum, the featured artists work with plants and insects as co-producers of contemporary art.
Part science fiction, part sublime discovery, this exhibition explores the potential for art and science to come together to showcase the interdependency of all living things.
This exhibition continues the museum’s commitment to explore art as a catalyst in creativity and connectivity for scientific and technological literacy known as STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics).
