Meet an Innovator: Tremaine Lea, Storm Chaser

This article was originally written and submitted as part of a Canada 150 Project, the Innovation Storybook, to crowdsource stories of Canadian innovation with partners across Canada. The content has since been migrated to Ingenium’s Channel, a digital hub featuring curated content related to science, technology and innovation.

Tremaine Lea is a storm chaser and photographer from Calgary, Alberta.  He is one of the few storm chasers in Canada, building a collection of dramatic storm pictures and videos. In this video presented by TELUS Spark, Tremaine talks about how he learned to photograph storms. He learned about the structures of storms and how they form in order to take the more visually interesting shots.

Join us for a presentation and Q & A session with a local storm chaser to delve deeper into the storms that pass through our local landscapes and just what storm chasing involves. This event will take place at TELUS Spark in the Presentation Theatre, starting at 2:00pm and is included free with admission or membership. The Meet an Innovator program series brings together TELUS Spark visitors and the incredible people in our community who are practicing the skills of innovation! These individuals inspire us, and we know that they'll have you pondering new ideas too.
