Chill Out! School Program

Program Description

In the Dairy Barn, your students will learn where milk and cream come from, and handle old-fashioned dairy tools. After meeting the museum’s dairy cows, students will get started on experiments with a delicious result: homemade ice cream!

Pumpkins

Pumpkins School Program

Program Description

It’s harvest time! Bring your students to the museum to learn all about pumpkins, a symbol of fall. They will listen to a story, take part in pumpkin experiments, and explore the origins of fall traditions. After learning the characteristics of the plant and its fruit, each student will get to bring a small pumpkin back to class.

Properties of and Changes in Matter: Bread School Program

Program Description

Your students will explore changes in matter by transforming grains of wheat into a delicious loaf of bread. They will learn key bread-making processes, including fermentation, protein coagulation, and starch gelatinization. At the same time, students will discover that a kitchen is, in the end, a wonderful science lab!

The Need to Knead

The Need to Knead School Program

Program Description

Want to make some dough? Just like The Little Red Hen, your students will be able to thresh the wheat, grind the seed into flour, sniff the yeast, knead the dough, and taste a loaf of bread—fresh out of the oven! Students will also explore how to grow wheat and handle old-fashioned farming tools.
