Provenance:
Purchase from Mrs W. J. Vann
History:
W. J. Vann constructed this quarter-scale working model of a Case steam traction engine, model 28-80, between 1936 and 1940. The Museum acquired it in 1971 and used it in tandem with the threshing machine model (1971.0658) into the 1990s to demonstrate grain threshing to visitors.
Technical History:
Representing a Case steam traction engine manufactured in the early 1900s, this model is one of three working models built by Vann and acquired by the Museum. The others include a Case threshing machine (1971.0658) and a Case water wagon (1971.0657). This model is evidence of the skill and artistry of the model maker.
