This clock dates to the 1820s. It was purchased by the Canada Science and Technology Museum in 1970.

Technical history:

This is an example of a skeleton clock with a special drive mechanism, weight compensation, and a single chime.

History:

A skeleton clock is one in which the parts that usually conceal the inner workings of the mechanism have been removed, or are significantly modified, so as to display the inner parts.
