OTTAWA, Monday, February 27, 2017 — The Canada Agriculture and Food Museum is proud to announce Maple Month, a new suite of programming during the month of March. Activities for children, families, and food lovers will tap into Canada’s iconic sweet treat, maple syrup. Visitors will explore Canadian traditions associated with this emblematic ingredient, savour maple feasts, and of course, celebrate with pancakes and maple taffy on snow.
A special one night only event will take place on March 9 with the Canada Agriculture and Food Museum’s official ambassador, celebrity chef Lynn Crawford. Chef Lynn will prepare three signature dishes featuring maple as the key ingredient while guests enjoy a sampling workshop, and glass of wine. Special tickets are required for this event. Ages 19 and up.
Other special features include:
- Tuesday, February 28 – International Pancake Day
- Enjoy pancakes served from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
- Saturday, March 4 – Canadian Traditions
- Songs and Stories of Loggers and Lumberjacks – Bilingual presentation at 10:30 a.m.
- Play the Wooden Spoons Workshop – Pre-registration is required, space is limited!
1 p.m. – English and 2 p.m. – French
- Saturday, March 11 – Algonquin Cuisine with Chef Cezin Nottaway
- Maple Toffee from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
- Saturday, March 25 – Pancake Morning
- Enjoy pancakes served from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
