OTTAWA, November 12, 2015 — Children of all ages are invited to meet their heroes, both real and fictional, as the Canada Aviation and Space Museum and the Military Family Resource Centre–National Capital Region celebrate National Child Day on Sunday, November 15, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The theme of this year’s event is “Come and Discover Your Inner Hero.” Featured are local real-life heroes, including personnel from the Canadian Armed Forces Military Police, the Ottawa Fire Services, the Ottawa Paramedic Service, the Ottawa Police Service Tactical Unit, le Sauvetage Bénévole Outaouais–Ottawa Volunteer Search and Rescue (SBO–OVSAR), and Professional Engineers Ontario. (Appearances by emergency service personnel subject to operational requirements.)
Fictional superheroes and villains in full costume will also be on hand to delight children with their amazing powers and costumes. Members of the Capital City Garrison–501st Legion will be on hand portraying the crowd-pleasing characters of George Lucas’s Star Wars universe, while members of the League of Superheroes will appear wearing impressive comic book and movie superhero attire.
Children are invited to dress up as their favourite superheroes and participate in a day of crafts, tours, and activities that will let their creative abilities shine!
