OTTAWA, APRIL 21, 2017 - The Canada Science and Technology Museums Corporation is retiring the Canadian Science and Engineering Hall of Fame program. The Corporation will replace it with an awards program directed at inspiring the next generation of Canadian innovators and supporting them in pursuing studies of the STEAM subjects (science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics).
Launched in October 2016, the newly-funded STEAM Horizon Awards program invites Canada’s bright-minded youth to promote positive changes throughout their community using STEAM. Recipients of the award receive $25,000 toward their post-secondary education. This year’s winners will travel to Ottawa to receive their award at the National Science and Innovation Gala, to be held May 17, 2017 at the Canada Aviation and Space Museum.
Current members of the Canadian Science and Engineering Hall of Fame will retain their recognition awarded during the tenure of the program.
