OTTAWA, December 14, 2015 — Building on the very successful Ace Academy app, the Canada Aviation and Space Museum is excited to launch, in partnership with SE3D, another First World War App — Ace Academy: Black Flight. With this must-have app for gamers, aviation enthusiasts, and action-adventure fans, you’ll be pinned to your seat as you experience First World War dogfighting like never before.
To create this innovative and engaging experience, the Museum merged its historical research and interpretation expertise with the interactive genius of SE3D. The cutting-edge result, Ace Academy: Black Flight, combines the personal mobile device platform with 3-D interactivity and gamification to deliver one of the most historically accurate games available for your mobile device.
The user experiences unmatched gameplay, graphics, and narrative as they climb into the cockpit to fly in real squadrons, over actual historical locations, and ascend the ranks to become a First World War ace.
“We are very excited to launch our second Ace Academy app, Black Flight. Much like aviation technology affected the course of the conflict a century ago, today digital technology is affecting the way museums engage with their audience,” said Alex Benay, President and CEO of the Canada Science and Technology Museums Corporation. “We are taking a number of strategic steps at our museums to broaden our national reach by leveraging exciting new technologies.”
"I am honoured to be a part of Black Flight's release. As a veteran of the Canadian Air Force, I am inspired by the museum's willingness to push the boundaries of innovation and technology in order to further engage youth in the history of our great country," said Karen McCrimmon, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Veterans Affairs.
