For immediate release
OTTAWA, February 17, 2017 — The Canada Science and Technology Museums Corporation is kicking off Talk Energy Week 2017 tomorrow, Saturday, February 18, 2017. Events will take place from coast to coast to coast until February 25, 2017 to encourage and facilitate the energy conversation.
Organized by the Corporation’s Let’s Talk Energy initiative, this will be the fourth year for this national energy literacy awareness and outreach campaign. Talk Energy Week — the biggest campaign of its kind in the country — aims to encourage Canadians to talk in a balanced and fact-based way about energy and climate change. In 2016, Talk Energy Week reached more than three million Canadians.
Talk Energy Week events and programming will take place in schools in every province and territory. These sessions and learning opportunities will engage youth — the leaders of tomorrow — in conversations about energy, climate change, and the role that science and technology can play in a prosperous and sustainable future for Canada. Activities include speakers’ series with experts from the energy, climate, and environment sectors, lesson plans for teachers, and energy and climate related programming from the Corporation’s partners.
