Join us at the Canada Agriculture and Food Museum this holiday season and discover how animals adapt and survive during the winter through special demonstrations and a presentation from the Ottawa Valley Wild Bird Care Centre. Attend our daily All about Feathers demonstration and discover which bird species winter in Canada. Explore a variety of vintage toys and classic games. Try your hand at some old fashioned games, some classic ones and admire and play with some toys from the past. Visitors can enjoy our 3rd annual gingerbread house village which will be on display for viewing and judging. For some tasty treats, join us in our demonstration kitchen for holiday classic desserts made with gingerbread as well as chocolate. Don’t forget to stop by our craft corner and get creative making seasonal greeting cards.
Cookie Day - Special Activity – December 29th ONLY
Join us for our 3rd annual Cookie Day to help bake cookies to donate to the Ottawa Mission. We encourage non-perishable food donations.
Ottawa Valley Wild Bird Care Centre – January 5th and 6th at 10:00 a.m.
Discover which birds migrate, learn about their feathers and about how some others adapt and stay warm during the winter season. The presentation will also highlight various owl species and owl pellet dissection.

Making gingerbread houses has become a popular holiday tradition for many families. Visit our gingerbread house village display and vote for your favourite amongst the participating families to the contest. Learn about the history of the gingerbread house along the way.
Gingerbread Cake (Ongoing)
Join us in the demonstration kitchen and learn how to bake this delicious cake. Discover the ingredients used to make it and learn why ginger has been so popular and used for thousands of years.
Classic Hot Chocolate Tasting (9:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.)
Join us in our demonstration kitchen to warm up this holiday season! Learn how easy it is to make homemade hot chocolate. Come and sample this delectable drink.
Holiday Mint Chocolate Cookies (10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.)
Chocolate and mint go hand in hand especially during the holiday season. Help us bake these classic holiday cookies.
Card Printmaking (ongoing)
Kids and adults alike are invited to participate in creating beautiful winter themed cards at our printmaking corner. Children will also delight in reading our selection of winter themed books.
