Keep your brain cells active this March Break! The Canada Science and Technology Museum has a plethora of fun-filled activities, experiments, and demonstrations that are sure to keep visitors of all ages engaged.

Visit our top-notch interactive exhibitions, get up close with demonstrations in the galleries, or head to the big demo stage for piping hot and supercool experiments. Don’t forget to try the special engineering challenge in Exploratek! Our March Break festivities are enhanced by special guests — they’ll be offering hands-on activities ranging from coding and engineering to neuroscience and more!

Raspberry Pi Jam

March 2 and 9

Get your digits and neurons moving with this hands-on coding event! Discover projects created by local tinkerers with Raspberry Pi microcomputers. Make your own digital game using simple coding programs, and increase your digital skills by exploring the full potential of this small, nifty device.

Molecules Factory

Dive into molecular chemistry, fundamental component of everything that matters! Build 3D models of molecules by bonding atoms together and solve the puzzles.

Brain Awareness Activities

March 12 to 15

Location: Hub

Join the Ottawa Chapter of The Society for Neuroscience for some fun and interactive neuroscience activities. Try our Backyard Brains experiments, which allow you to control a robotic claw — or another person’s hand — with signals sent by your brain to your muscles! Test your reaction time, see your brainwaves on a computer, and discover more about touch, taste, and smell.

Bayview Yards’ Prototype Lab Showcase

March 15
Meet the team from the Bayview Yards and their Prototyping Lab showcasing their interactive on the themes of Advanced Manufacturing, Robotics and Internet of Things. Creative art sculptures using recycled metal materials, robots that are meant for social good, and digital interactive sensors will be presented for everyone’s pleasure and curiosity. STEAM activated activities for the whole family!

Engineering Fun!

Celebrate National Engineering Month with the whole family by participating in a variety of amusing challenges. Try your hand at robotics, wire up electrical circuits, and build towers as high as you can reach! This activity is offered in partnership with the Ottawa Chapter of the Professional Engineers of Ontario.
