This March Break, why not make some family memories that sparkle like the stars? Join us at the Canada Aviation and Space Museum for imaginative activities, hands-on crafts, tours, and more! Kids will love rolling up their sleeves and making their very own alien out of plasticine. Hear from special guests as we discuss what life might look like on another planet... and learn if humans can breathe on Mars.

Activities

Alien Adventure

10:30 a.m., 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m., Monday to Friday
What if we were to move to another Earth-like planet... only to discover that we weren’t the only inhabitants? Using modelling clay and your imagination, create a version of what you think these alien inhabitants would look like. Next, let the museum staff know whether you think these beings would be welcoming or hostile towards their human visitors!

Rocket Adventures

Daily at 11:00 a.m.
Build a rocket ship, climb aboard, and blast off. Once In Space, put on your jetpack, and go on a spacewalk to repair your ship. After a quick snack on the Moon, fly back to Earth!

Breathing on Mars

12:00 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays
Could humans breathe on Mars? Learn what the atmosphere on Mars is made of.

You’re in Space

12:00 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays
Astronauts aboard the International Space Station have daily activities similar to everyone else: they sleep, they eat, they wash and, of course, they have to make use of the Space toilet! If humans were to move to a new planet, these common activities would have to be explored before departing Earth. Find out what happens to human waste in orbit — and watch an experiment in urine purification — in this interactive demonstration.

General Guided Tours

Daily at 10:30 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.

Reserve Hangar Tours ($)

Daily at 1:00 p.m.

Cockpit Interpretation Centre

Want the experience of flight but prefer to keep your feet on the ground? Here is your chance to sit at the controls of an aircraft without taking off! Friendly, knowledgeable Museum staff will assist you in boarding one of two cockpits:

Cessna 150 Cockpit

Sit at the controls of a Cessna 150. Practice takeoffs and landings, and get a feel for what it’s like to fly this popular civilian airplane.

Flight Simulators

The Museum offers two flight simulators, open to the public at an additional cost. Climb aboard a replica of an F-16 cockpit and test your flight skills! Or, try the Redbird full-motion platform simulator, used to train pilots around the world.
