Please note that this presentation will be in English, with simultaneous translation into French, and a bilingual Q & A.

Please note that the topics under discussion are intended for mature audiences. Recommended for participants ages 15 and up.

From World War Z and Contagion, to 28 Days Later and Resident Evil, outbreaks of deadly diseases are a favorite topic of science fiction. But how fictional are they?

As part of our “Medical Innovation” theme, this lively discussion will explore the likelihood of a global pandemic in the age of superbugs, antibiotic resistance, and germ warfare. Where will the next pandemic come from? How vulnerable is Canada to an outbreak? What can we do to stop it? The session will end with a panel discussion and a question-and-answer period.
