A century after the 1918 influenza that killed tens of millions as it swept the globe, scientists are rethinking how to guard against another super-flu epidemic. Dr. Anthony Fauci has designated a universal flu vaccine as a top priority for the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases – and he’s “cautiously optimistic” that it could be accomplished in the coming years.
