How are you today, my reading friend? I ask you this question, with some trepidation perhaps, because I chose to stray further away from the one true path to illumination, that which leads to an understanding of all things aeronautical and spacey. Even though yours truly readily admits that I loathe computers with every fibre of my being, I found myself strangely attracted to this week’s topic, but back to our story, which is pretty cool. Lets us begin our exploration with a quote, in other

As a student in the Game Development program at Algonquin College, I never thought I’d be working on my final, cumulative project at a museum! Perhaps I should give you a little bit of the back story. Hello there, my reading friend. As we all move along the month of April, enjoying the rites of spring, yours truly thought that a feel good story might not be a bad idea. What say ye? Good. Many of the male skaters were taking flying lessons, or already had a pilot licence. Some of these young men openly bragged about their

The Laser began as a quick sketch made during a telephone conversation between Canadians Bruce Kirby and Ian Bruce. “How about doing a car-top sail boat?” This was the inspiration for the Laser, perhaps the most popular single-handed sailing dinghy in the world. Bruce Kirby responded to Ian Bruce’s question by creating a light, portable boat that appealed to both recreational and competitive sailors. Introduced in 1971, the Laser gave people access to the thrill of sailing without membership in

That night, Plante refused to go back into the net without a mask, and the face of hockey changed forever. The mask ultimately proved a success. Today, all goalies wear facemasks, some so artfully painted that they have become the subject of museum exhibitions. This fibreglass “pretzel” design mask was Plante’s second pretzel mask, and his
