I have a favour to ask, my reading friend. Would you be willing to entertain the possibility of accepting a well-known if defunct Canadian confectionery company as a worthwhile topic under our agriculture and food heading? Much obliged. You will of course have noted that today’s illustration was / is brought to us by The Aylmer Express, a newspaper which still existed as of 2022. Even though that particular name made its appearance in that small Ontario town located near Ottawa, Ontario, in

Hej, hej, hur mår du? Yours truly is please to see (read?) that you are reasonably well, my reading friend. I too am reasonably well. (Hello, MM!) One could argue that my old bones would feel a tad better if the federal, provincial and territorial governments of Canada got with the program and celebrated International Workers’ Day, or Labour Day, on May 1st, rather than on the first Monday of September but let us not dwell. We, after all, have an intriguing topic on our plate. Our weekly

If it is okay with you, yours truly would like to start this issue of our blog / bulletin / thingee with a question. Do you like flight simulators, or video games inspired by this type of technology? If so, please read the following. If not, please read the following anyway. Today marks 100 years since Canada won its first Olympic gold medal in hockey. At the 1920 Summer Olympics in Antwerp, Belgium, the Winnipeg Falcons — representing Canada — were awarded the gold medal on April 26. This was the first ice hockey tournament at an Olympic Games, and the only instance of it at a Summer Olympics. A hockey tournament was part of the inaugural Winter Olympics in 1924, and has been a part of every winter program since then. Founded in 1911, the Winnipeg Falcons hockey

Hello there, my reading friend. As we all move along the month of April, enjoying the rites of spring, yours truly thought that a feel good story might not be a bad idea. What say ye? Good.
