Be a part of an international event celebrating humanity's collective accomplishments in space exploration!
Yuri’s Night commemorates the day Yuri Gagarin became the first human to go to space – back in April 1961. The Canada Aviation and Space Museum is marking the milestone with a stellar event, featuring music, free appetizers, and a cash bar. Watch a Science Slam – where professional scientists will be given five minutes and a microphone, with a goal to both educate and entertain. Think poetry slam, but for scientists! Each slammer will be judged and a winner will be crowned (organized by Science Slam Ottawa).
This is also an opportunity to explore the museum and visit the Life in Orbit exhibition. Do you ever wonder what it’s like to live in space? Find out all about the daily life aboard the marvel of technology that is the International Space Station (ISS).
Come meet the Museum’s Science Advisor, Jesse Rogerson – and join us for a night full of fun and adventures!
Ticket price: $20 | Member price: $18

Science Slam Ottawa
Science Slam Ottawa is a volunteer group of science communicators who have found a way to bring science to you in an entirely different way. A Science Slam is where science enthusiasts from the Ottawa region are given 5 minutes and a microphone. Their goal: to both educate and entertain you at the same time. A panel of judges scores each scientists on those qualities and a winner is crowned!
Double Experience - nerd rockers from Ottawa, Ontario - play on the hardest difficulty settings the music industry has to offer. In just a few years, the young trio have logged 500 performances across 19 countries and have obtained international radio (Idobi Radio), festivals (BBC Introducing) and media (Global TV) support alike, with no additional power-ups provided by agencies or labels. Their recent album, “Unsaved Progress”, was released in the spring of 2016 and reached #6 on the National Loud Chart, spawning the viral anthem for the video game Destiny in the process. Double Experience have begun to share their story officially via music industry conventions (IndieWeek) to the next wave wave of bands who will take control of their own destinies.Back to top
