Technical history:

In Fabre de Lagrange’s 1872 catalogue, this model was labelled as an “Intersection of two cylinders, one piercing the other so as to give two separate loops of intersection.”

History:

In 1872, in keeping with the object-based teaching trend in mathematics, the South Kensington Museum in London, England, commissioned Fabre de Lagrange of Paris to make over 45 mathematical models for its Education Collection.
