About Us

This portal provides public access to much of the archival holdings of Ingenium. Ingenium is made up of three separate museums; the Canada Museum of Science and Technology, the Canada Aviation and Space Museum, and the Canada Agriculture and Food Museum. As part of our commitment to open data, we are offering this portal as a way to search the archival collections housed at all three institutions.

Unlike a traditional “image bank”, this site allows users to see all materials with a digital record, not just those that have been selected and captioned, researched, and edited. This means that some records are incomplete, only appear in one language, and/or do not have a photograph or scan available. If there is no data for a field, it shows as "N/A."

Ingenium owns all content, unless otherwise indicated. You are free to download and use the images found in this portal for your own personal research. Material marked as being in the public domain (CC0) or as CC BY-NC-ND can also be used for non-profit academic or educational publications. We simply ask to be credited appropriately. See our Terms and Conditions page for further details. Please contact us and let us know how you are using the material—we love to hear these stories! If you wish to use an image for a commercial purpose, please contact us for pricing and copyright information.

Other “open” information is also available: the Artifact Catalogue, Open Data, Open Documents, and the Library Catalogue.

Please contact us if you have any questions about the information in this portal.
