As we prepare to commemorate the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, the museum welcomes Métis artist Tracey-Mae Chambers for a special round weaving workshop.
Unwind with circular weaving as you create a feature wall hanging in this two-hour workshop. Explore the techniques and materials to find your own creative passion. In this workshop, you will learn the fundamentals of warping a circular frame, along with several techniques for creating texture using a variety of materials.
No experience is required and all supplies are included.
Please note that this is an adult class, however, children 12 years and over are permitted if accompanied by an adult.
Biography: Tracey-Mae Chambers
“I grew up as a stranger to my own story; adopted and re-named, grafted into a new family tree. The discovery in adulthood of my Métis heritage was a revelation that set me on a path of discovery. I work in the powerful tradition of the vessel as metaphor for individuals; we fill and re-fill ourselves throughout life to create our own story. My developing story is that of an Indigenous heritage woman and her quest for harmony with the natural world.”
