Pre-visit and Cancellation Information
We are looking forward to your visit! In order to make your visit as rewarding as possible, please read this page beforehand, and share it with chaperones and group leaders.
Planning a visit?
Teachers are welcome to visit the museum free of charge by presenting proof of their teaching status.

- Please bring your letter of confirmation with you to the Canada Agriculture and Food Museum.
- We ask that all groups be dropped off and picked up at the Museum Entrance, off Prince of Wales Drive. Please consult the Canada Agriculture and Food Museum's map for more information.
- The group will be greeted by a Museum Educator who will then review safety rules with them. During this time, the group leader should present the confirmation letter at the Admission Booth at the entrance and look after payment.
$3 per hour; $8 daily maximum; free for buses.
We are a working farm
We ask that visitors dress appropriately and heed the safety guidelines outlined below. The Canada Agriculture and Food Museum is a demonstration farm complete with the miracle of new life as well as the potential hazards associated with large farm animals and working farm equipment. Please note that teachers and chaperones must remain with their groups at all times.
Museum Code of Conduct
For the comfort and enjoyment of everyone, please keep the Museum barns free from:
- eating, drinking, and gum chewing
- conduct which is injurious or disrespectful to you, your fellow visitors, the Museum staff and the farm animals
- feeding or handling of the farm animals or equipment unless this is part of the program
...and please remain with your group at all times.
Staying for lunch?
From May to mid-October, the Canada Agriculture and Food Museum has a large outdoor area with picnic tables to accommodate groups of students staying for lunch.
If you finish early
You are welcome to explore the Canada Agriculture and Food Museum's exhibits and barns at your leisure until the arranged time of your departure or until 5:00 p.m., whichever comes first.
First Aid is provided by Visitor Services staff. A chaperone must remain with his or her charge at all times in the First Aid Room.
Please make name tags for your students which can be read easily by our educators. This will help them to quickly build a rapport with your class.
Chaperones are responsible for their group and for the individuals in that group. Students not respecting the Museum Code of Conduct will be asked to leave the Museum and will be required to remain with their chaperone to await transportation. The principal of the school will be informed.
Please note that we require the following ratios:
|K to Grade 8
Preschool to Secondary Cycle 1
|Grades 9 and up
Secondary Cycle 2 and up
The Museum requires the above student-adult ratios for student supervision. The Museum reserves the right to limit the number of extra accompanying adults. Teachers and designated supervisors are expected to remain with their students at all times.
School Programs Cancellation Policy
For cancellations, please give as much advance notice as possible. A cancellation fee of $135 per program will be charged for cancellations made less than 48 hours before the scheduled start time of the program. In the case of school bus cancellation due to inclement weather, this fee will not apply if a school reschedules the cancelled program within the same school year. In the case of School Festival Days (Sheep Shearing), the cancellation fee is $11 per student if the reservation is cancelled within 48 hours of the program date/hour. For a program cancelled with more than 48 hours’ notice, a $30 administration fee will apply, unless the program is rescheduled within the same school year. If you arrive late, the program will be shortened so that those groups scheduled to follow your visit will not be inconvenienced.
